Global Addiction Therapeutics Innovation Day

GATID 2026

IDEAS St Andrews, and our related initiave Digital Innovation in Addiction Services (DigitAS) St Andrews, are co-organising and contributing to this year’s Global Addiction Therapeutics Innovation Day (GATID).

GATID is designed to accelerate the development of tools and treatments for addiction and its comorbidities. By uniting academia, healthcare, regulatory agencies, and industry, GATID fosters the cross-sector collaboration necessary to address this global public health crisis.

Core Objectives

  • Bridging the Gap: Facilitating dialogue between researchers and clinicians to translate innovative discoveries into real-world benefits for patients, health systems, and societies.
  • Enhancing Investment: Connecting startups and innovators with venture capital and funding agencies to fuel growth and market readiness.
  • Knowledge & Community: Building a robust network of global leaders through expert panels and lectures to share advancements and foster long-term partnerships.

The ISAM Innovation Award

A centerpiece of the event, this global competition highlights promising early-stage solutions in addiction care. Recognising research teams and healthcare professionals, the award provides finalists with international visibility and the support needed to transform creative concepts into impactful, real-world interventions.

GATID 2025

The first Global Addiction Therapeutics Innovation Day was held in Hamburg on 25th May 2025. DigitAS St Andrews were co-organisers, the IDEAS St Andrews team was represented by Prof Alex Baldacchino, Dr Gosia Mitka, and Joe Schofield.

Of particular note is the presentation from Erinn Melville (UK Office for Life Sciences) Catalysing innovation in the UK: the Addiction Healthcare Goals, including information on the Reducing Drug Deaths Innovation Challenge where our co-director Alex Baldacchino served as Clinical Lead.
